The children’s swimwear industry has developed a great deal in the past few decades, so the stores now offer a great variety of swimsuits and all sorts of accessories for them. This is undoubtedly a good aspect, but sometimes you admit feeling a bit confused and not knowing how to choose the best one for your child.
Here are a few clues to help you establish some children swimwear priorities:
A very important aspect you should consider is the fabric of the children’s swimwear. Certain fabrics (such as polyester, nylon, stretch, lycra and vinyl) have the advantage of being really eye-catching.
In addition, they become dry really quickly, which means that children won?t have to experience the unpleasant sensation of humidity for too long after getting out of the water. However, they are not very healthy for your child?s skin; from this point of view, fabrics like cotton or velvet are preferable.
If you are wondering whether you should opt for a floating swimsuit or not, it?s good for you to know that these swimsuits are really safe only when they have the approval of specialists. So, check the label for that information (for example, Coast Guard approval or something similar) and try to make sure it is authentic.
Floating swimsuits usually have a positive effect, making children be much more confident during their activities in the water. However, if it is worn for too long, it can cause a sort of addiction, which means that children will be afraid to get in the water without them.
Also, it can make children not want to learn how to swim, because they no longer feel motivated, since they can have fun in safety while wearing the floating swimsuit.
All in all, this type of children’s swimwear can have its benefits, but only provided that it is not worn for too long and that you make sure that your child is confident about getting in the water without it too. After deciding upon the best swimsuit for your young one, there are some accessories which are also very important such as: aqua shoes, aqua hats, swim nappies, swim jacket, swim cap, goggles, sunglasses or baby bans (which is the perfect eye protection for the very young, as lenses block out 100% UVA and UVB rays).
To sum up, when choosing childrens swimwear, you should take into account not only the age and preferences of your child, but also the quality of the swimsuit and of the accessories, as well as the degree of protection and safety they offer.
